Having taught recreational trampolining at Thame Leisure Centre for 18 years Sara Allen felt she needed a bigger and more challenging project. It was in fact one of her best friends, Emma Jones (also a coach) who encouraged her into finally taking the massive leap to start Thames Valley School of Trampolining, and with the help and support of her family and friends the order for three brand spanking new trampolines was placed !
Setting up the club was possibly the most challenging and nerve raking time ever. The paperwork needed to ensure safety and continuity in a club is a massive task and it took 3 months to make sure this was all correct and up to standard. Crossing each of these hurdles was another step to realising the dream and our first open day in November was fantastically successful with propestive pupils young and old queing out of the door. The club 'went live' in January 2006 with Sara, Emma and Leah pooling together their expertise and enthusiasm to ensure the clubs success from day one. That first Thursday was possibly the most nervous for the coaches but also the most rewarding. Aylesbury has some very enthusaistic and friendly gymnasts and the club was launched amoungst people who have now become firm friends.
The past three years have seen the club grow and develop to a high standard. We are now a strong competitive club regionally (and its a massive region!) Competing as far as the Isle of Wight (not a nice journey at 7.30am in choppy seas!!) and winning many regional titles along the way. Our gymnasts have progressed through the old graded system and are now embrassing the new competitive routines with enthusiasm. Our recreational classes are equally as important as our competitive squads to us , Our aim being to ensure that each and every child is progressing and achieving their full potential. We are extremely proud of the fact that we have two full classes of teenage pupils who have managed to create their own 'club' within our club. Each one encouraging the other to push 'just a little harder' and achieve just that little bit more!
